Modern Story
Region: Plateau
Teaching: Respect

In this story, Jake is the “new kid” once again as his parents, who are academics, begin new jobs at the local university. While some people, like Keisha, are welcoming to Jake, others, like Mike, try to exclude him. Jake feels that he doesn’t fit in, but he does have one talent: drumming. When a talent show approaches, Jake is persuaded to enter — and his main competition is Mike. Through Jake’s experiences, Drummer Boy shows the importance of respect and of treating others as you would like to be treated.
