Summary, etc An engaging short story about a Bavarian family in Boston gives Christmas cheer, a couple of surprises and a touch of nostalgia for the old country in the new. On Beacon Hill, the 12 year old twins Karl and Maria Bayer, out window shopping with their father, see a wooden angel in a shop, very like the ones their woodcarving grandfather used to make in Oberammergau. They are separately inspired- the twins to buy the angel for their father and Mr. Bayer to get out his old carving tools and make one- and there is warm gaiety Christmas morning when they discover both angels in the creche.
