Danny, 17, survived Buchenwald Concentration Camp but lost his entire family. Now all he wants is to come to Canada, go to school and get a job. Lilli, an Auschwitz survivor, has also been orphaned and is waiting patiently for a new life in Canada. Dreaming of a place where food doesn't have to be secretly hoarded, where dogs are friendly and people don't treat you like cattle, the two teens--like all teens--just want to fit in. But Canadians turn out to be strange and perplexing people. Haunted by their past, Danny and Lilli fear they will always remain outsiders.
Teen / young adult.
