Modern Story

Region: Plains

Teaching: Wisdom

Summary: In this modern story, Ethan is spending his summer with his grandfather. Ethan loves his grandfather, but misses his friends. He’s also not very sure about what he’s going to do for fun in quiet Big River with its vast expanses of land. Seeing his apprehension, his grandfather arranges for them to go on a trip, not to a large city, as Ethan hoped, but to a small log cabin in Prince Albert National Park, where they are going to spend the rest of the summer. Amid the peace and quiet there, Ethan gains an understanding and appreciation of nature and his heritage and agrees with his grandfather that he’s had “the best summer ever.”
